The Obama Legacy – the Audacity of Dope

The real Obama legacy is nothing but broken promises, war crimes, illegally spying on citizens, assasinations of US citizens, the word’s most expensive “free healthcare” that stuck the bill to working class people in increased taxes, the world’s greatest ever deficit ($19 trillion?!@#&*!) looting the most productive members of society to pay for politicians to get rich including Obama. If you seek enlightenment, research what his net work was before he became president, and then what it is now.

By the way, MOST of the following articles below are commentaries by LEFT-wing, progressives. I guess there are a few principled left-wingers in the country who hold a Democrat President to the same moral standards that they hold a Republican President to.

“The Bureau of Investigative Journalism in Britain has estimated that, in the first three years after President Obama took office, between 282 and 535 civilians were credibly reported killed by drone strikes — including more than 60 children.”

“We’re looking right now at a reality that President Obama has essentially extended the very [drone war] policies that many of his supporters once opposed under President Bush,” says Scahill.”

That also means that the Obama administration has approved more arms sales than any U.S. administration since World War II.”

The American Inquisition: Religious Intolerance at Ground Zero

“Bigotry is the disease of ignorance, of morbid minds; enthusiasm of the free and buoyant. Education and free discussion are the antidotes of both.” – Thomas Jefferson (Author of the Declaration of Independence)

By now, almost everyone’s aware of the NYC mosque controversy has made its way to mainstream news media, Twitter, Facebook and talk radio. It is breeding a rising hysteria against Muslims. Many protests have gathered now against proposed mosques around the country – in other parts of NYC; Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn and Midland Beach, Staten Island and in other states – California, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee and Wisconsin to name a few mosques that are being opposed.

The big issue in the news this time is a building of an Islamic community center aimed at multi-faith dialog called Cordoba House, open to all faiths in Lower Manhattan more than two blocks away from “Ground Zero” where the World Trade Center once stood. It will house an auditorium, spa, basketball court, swimming pool, classrooms, exhibition space, community meeting space, 9/11 memorial, and, yes, a prayer space for Muslims. That is what the bigots of America find objectionable.

I lived in NYC for 13 years. In this frenzy what people seem to miss is – there was actually a “mosque” (prayer hall) in the World Trade Center itself where people gathered for Friday prayers. Every year Ramadhan is still celebrated in the Pentagon where 184 people died on 9/11. Ramadhan is also observed in the White House every year when the President hosts Iftar dinner. But since this is an election year, politicians have tried to build up the extremist hysteria further – Sarah Palin (on Twitter), Newt Gingrich, Rick Lazio (campaigning to be the next Governor of New York) and others are joining the frenzy of Islamophobists and bigots. On the other hand, I applaud CNN’s Fareed Zakaria for his actions. He returned a medal and award he got in 2005 back to the Jewish Group ADL for their opposition to the community center.

The Cordoba House (the “mosque” as our biased media calls it) is named after the city of Cordoba, Spain – which was capital of Muslim Spain. Around the 10th century that was the most populated and coolest city in Europe.

The Muslim period in Spain (Here’s an article on the subject http://tinyurl.com/2eykgqt) is remembered as a “golden age” – where Muslims, Jews, and Christians living in peace built a vibrant and extraordinary civilization. It had universities and libraries, public baths, roads with street lamps. Literature, poetry and architecture flourished. They had built a flourishing culture and prosperous civilization during a period when London was still a mud hut village and most of Europe was still in the “Dark Ages”.

The Muslim period in Spain began in 711 AD and ended in 1492 AD with the Spanish Inquisition (religious persecution of Muslims, Jews, non-Catholic Christians by the Catholic Church which had banned all other religions). If anyone was found believing in Judaism or Islam, they would be called “heretics” and burnt at the stake.

The founders of America did not declare this a Christian nation but one for any believer or non-believer of religion. Read Thomas Jefferson’s Bill of Religious Freedoms. Jefferson wrote in his Autobiography, in reference to the Bill of Religious Freedoms:

“Where the preamble declares, that coercion is a departure from the plan of the holy author of our religion, an amendment was proposed by inserting “Jesus Christ,” so that it would read “A departure from the plan of Jesus Christ, the holy author of our religion;” the insertion was rejected by the great majority, in proof that they meant to comprehend, within the mantle of its protection, the Jew and the Gentile, the Christian and Mohammedan, the Hindoo and Infidel of every denomination.”

The US Constitution guarantees that Muslims in this country have as much rights as do Jews, Christians, Hindus to live or worship freely as long as they do not infringe upon the rights of others to do the same. Muslim heritage in this country goes back to Christopher Columbus and his famous voyage of 1492. Columbus’ pilots were Muslim.

What is today happening in America, where Muslims are being prevented from building a place of worship, is just plain hatred, bigotry and racism and nothing but the Spanish Inquisition all over again.

President Obama made a statement in his Ramadhan Iftar Dinner speech which I highly recommend reading – here’s an excerpt:

“But let me be clear: as a citizen, and as President, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country. That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances. This is America, and our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakeable. The principle that people of all faiths are welcome in this country, and will not be treated differently by their government, is essential to who we are. The writ of our Founders must endure.”

The Bankrupt States of America

If this continues…we may as well rename the country “The Bankrupt States of America”.

States of Crisis for 46 Governments Facing Greek-Style Deficits

Californians don’t see much evidence that the worst economic contraction since the Great Depression is coming to an end.

Unemployment was 12.4 percent in May, 2.7 percentage points higher than the national rate. Lawmakers gridlocked over how to close a $19 billion budget gap are weighing the termination of the main welfare program for 1.3 million poor families or borrowing more than $9 billion in the bond market. California, tied with Illinois for the lowest credit rating of any state, is diverting a rising portion of tax revenue to service debt, Bloomberg Markets magazine reports in its August issue.

Far from rebounding, the Golden State, with a $1.8 trillion economy that’s larger than Russia’s, is sinking deeper into its financial funk. And it’s not alone.

Even as the U.S. appears to be on the mend — gross domestic product has climbed three straight quarters — finances in Arizona, Illinois, New Jersey, New York and other states show few signs of improvement. Forty-six states face budget shortfalls that add up to $112 billion for the fiscal year ending next June, according to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, a Washington research institution. State spending is 12 percent of U.S. GDP.

The lesson from Greece (which a 5 year old can understand) is that spending more than you make will bring you to financial ruin.

Governments can increase taxes, but eventually taxes are paid by people who need jobs to pay taxes. Or by businesses that make money… governments do not create jobs – they tax you and take part of your paycheck and call it theirs.

High taxes cripple businesses and drive up cost of doing business. That doesn’t help the economy – example; Hollywood films and TV series are now moving to places that offer lower labor costs, no unions, lower taxes and more tax credits. “The Blind Side” was moved to Georgia, “Green Lantern” (set for next year release) went to film in Louisiana. Canada (and British Columbia in particular), Ireland and New Zealand, among others, have been aggressively luring film companies in part by drawing production away from Hollywood – like Avatar, Spartacus: Blood and Sand, The Last Airbender (went to film in Pennsylvania and Greenland).

50 Statistics About the U.S. Economy

This is what government does to an economy. The US government has spent trillions of dollars (which it does not have – but will get by taxing the most hard working and productive workers in society or by borrowing from China, Japan, India, etc) to bail out Maserati driving bankers, wage war against countries that pose no threat to us (this is what breeds hatred against the US and creates terrorism), funding Israel’s ethnic cleansing. Until government stops meddling – there will be no free market nor an end to the recession – only bubbles.

50 Statistics About the U.S. Economy That Are Almost Too Crazy to Believe

Excerpt:

#15) 39.68 million Americans are now on food stamps, which represents a new all-time record. But things look like they are going to get even worse. The U.S. Department of Agriculture is forecasting that enrollment in the food stamp program will exceed 43 million Americans in 2011.

#14) Phoenix, Arizona features an astounding annual car theft rate of 57,000 vehicles and has become the new “Car Theft Capital of the World”.

#13) U.S. law enforcement authorities claim that there are now over 1 million members of criminal gangs inside the country. These 1 million gang members are responsible for up to 80% of the crimes committed in the United States each year.

#12) The U.S. health care system was already facing a shortage of approximately 150,000 doctors in the next decade or so, but thanks to the health care “reform” bill passed by Congress, that number could swell by several hundred thousand more.

#11) According to an analysis by the Congressional Joint Committee on Taxation the health care “reform” bill will generate $409.2 billion in additional taxes on the American people by 2019.

#10) The Dow Jones Industrial Average just experienced the worst May it has seen since 1940.

#9) In 1950, the ratio of the average executive’s paycheck to the average worker’s paycheck was about 30 to 1. Since the year 2000, that ratio has exploded to between 300 to 500 to one.

#8) Approximately 40% of all retail spending currently comes from the 20% of American households that have the highest incomes.

#7) According to economists Thomas Piketty and Emmanuel Saez, two-thirds of income increases in the U.S. between 2002 and 2007 went to the wealthiest 1% of all Americans.

#6) The bottom 40 percent of income earners in the United States now collectively own less than 1 percent of the nation’s wealth.

#5) If you only make the minimum payment each and every time, a $6,000 credit card bill can end up costing you over $30,000 (depending on the interest rate).

#4) According to a new report based on U.S. Census Bureau data, only 26 percent of American teens between the ages of 16 and 19 had jobs in late 2009 which represents a record low since statistics began to be kept back in 1948.

#3) According to a National Foundation for Credit Counseling survey, only 58% of those in “Generation Y” pay their monthly bills on time.

#2) During the first quarter of 2010, the total number of loans that are at least three months past due in the United States increased for the 16th consecutive quarter.

#1) According to the Tax Foundation’s Microsimulation Model, to erase the 2010 U.S. budget deficit, the U.S. Congress would have to multiply each tax rate by 2.4. Thus, the 10 percent rate would be 24 percent, the 15 percent rate would be 36 percent, and the 35 percent rate would have to be 85 percent.

50 Statistics About the U.S. Economy That Are Almost Too Crazy to Believe

Here’s Proof: Keynesian Economics Fail Miserably

Here you have the proof – The U.K. has been following the Keynesian economic prescription to the fullest; it cut interest rates, greatly drove up government spending (what our government calls “stimulus” – I call it a waste of taxpayers’ money), printed money like crazy, and nationalized half of the banking industry – Now you have the results: A stagnant economy, crippling budget deficit, rising prices, rising unemployment. As I said before – you cannot put out a fire by spraying it with gasoline.

This is pretty much what is going to happen in the US as well – until we allow the banks to fail and go bankrupt instead of bailing them out for their incompetence, stop spending trillions on foreign wars against nations that pose no threat to us, stop bailing out GM, etc – there is not going to be a recovery. It’s the nature of the beast (business cycle).

Choosing a Gravestone at the “Graveyard of Empires”

“The people of Afghanistan don’t want to be saved by us, they want to be saved from us.”
– US Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH).

Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. The cliché begs repeating because history has shown that no one has ever won in Afghanistan.

Almost everyone knows that the USSR was defeated there, resulting in the bankruptcy and collapse of the Soviet Union. We saw their troops leaving on the news in 1989. No, sorry – they didn’t leave because we sent John Rambo.

The British also failed to conquer Afghanistan – THREE separate times. The bloodiest massacre of British troops occured in Afghanistan. Other empires who tried include Alexander the Great, Mahmud of Ghazni, Genghis Khan, Tamerlane, the Seljuks, the Hotaki Dynasty, the Moghul Empire, and the Ilkhanate; all fell to the proud and unconquerable people of Afghanistan. That’s why it’s called “The Graveyard of Empires”. Seems yet another empire is picking out its gravestone there now.

“War is Peace” – the Bush doctrine of pre-emptive wars, occupation and bombing of nations that pose no threat to us continues.

Please watch this short video and if you think this war is wrong – call and write to your Congressperson and tell him or her to vote NO on any spending bill that would send more troops to Afghanistan. They have the power to stop this escalation.

The Nobel “Peace” Prize winner wants to use your taxes to bomb Afghanistan further to peace…or rather to pieces. Our country will not become safe if we bomb Afghanistan, or send more drones into Pakistan to kill people in mud huts with our $2 million dollar missiles. They will only create more suicide bombers, terrorists and resistance will esalate putting our troops at risk. Not to mention bankrupt our nation, the great empires of the past collapsed because they couldn’t pay for their wars and occupations. We can use that money to re-invest in our country wisely.

Think about it – would you want your country occupied and bombed by foreign troops? Afghans are a very proud people, why would they? We spend more money on “defense” and “peace” wars than the rest of the world combined. One has to be crazy to think that USA – the “world’s only superpower” surrounded by oceans on its East and West, and puppet states on the North and South needs a military budget that huge to defend the nation against people living in mud huts half way the world across.

FDIC Seeking Bailouts From Banks?

You know that our financial system is totally and royally screwed when FDIC has to borrow funds from banks.

I thought this was satire but I confirmed it after I saw articles in mainstream news.

It is supposed to work the other way around….FDIC is supposed to lend to banks who are at risk or failing. When you see “FDIC Insured” that is supposed to mean that even if the bank fails you will get your money back (up to a certain amount). Now that very fund is borrowing from them? This is such a scam. Guess who’s paying for all this? Clue: It begins with tax and ends with payers.
